I have had no responses to previous newsletters except those already published so this newsletter will be short as I have plenty of other things to do.
I asked if anyone looks at the club’s website?
I had 1 email from a club member that said only “keep the website”. There was some muttering about engaging with the young. How do we do that?

I have received no response re the EPA National Club Competition so must presume no one is interested.

Another date for your diary: Thursday 19th November 2015. This is the date of the club’s AGM. Now you have so much notice we should have a full turn out!

Thank you to all those members who have responded to my request for articles/ information to go into the newsletter, all one of you! Your committee and people running tournaments give their time, what do the rest of you give? I make no apology for keeping on about this but this club has nearly 50 members.

As a matter of interest does anyone look at the club’s website?
Please let me know if you do because it costs the club money and do we need it? Your views are important to us.

Your committee decided to have an inter team practice night on Thursday 2nd April, 7.30 start.

EPA National Club Competition. There is apparently a National competition for EPA registered clubs. Are there any licensed players who are interested in taking part? If so please let me know and I will get details.
Phil Boarder the regional coach is available to give coaching sessions. If anyone is interested please let me know. If there are enough requests we should be able to get him to come to St Faiths. Who couldn’t benefit?
Is anyone interested in becoming a coach? There is a move by the EPA to get a coach in every club.

Another date for your diary: Thursday 19th November 2015. This is the date of the club’s AGM. Now you have so much notice we should have a full turn out!

Although we managed to persuade Joan Bowman out of retirement to play for the Wildcats, they only have 6 regular players so we could still do with new members. So ALL of you please bear this in mind.

For all those who live abroad during the winter how about giving us a flavor of what it’s like to be somewhere else for Christmas?

I can incorporate photos in the newsletters, has anyone got any archive photos that club members may find interesting/funny?

The other interest is about you as players/people. I would like to print a few words each month about a club member. I know that some of you had/have really interesting jobs and have great hobbies, or just tell us about yourselves. I know that there are Artists, Archers, Equestrians and Academics amongst our club mates also ex Athletes, Police people. Who’s going to go first and is there any interest in the above? Please let me know.

What about a special mention for some ones birthday the following month

Who Do You Know?

This club member was born in the forties in the Midlands. Met his wife in May 1973 and married in December of the same year. Has worked in Ipswich and Kidderminster before arriving in Norwich in 1979.They have 3 children.

In 1980 and was persuaded by Bob Urquhart to try petanque. He and his wife/family have been playing nonstop ever since, 34 years in the Thursday County League, a lot of cold wet Sundays in the Winter League, Tuesday league when it was running and for the past 15 years in the Wednesday morning league.

Played at national level through the middle/late 80s, as did many others from Norwich, and with 2 current club members were Grand Prix semifinalists twice. With two members from two other clubs, playing as Norwich United got to the top 12 triples in the country in successive years. The current selection process for the GB team is mainly as a result of the efforts of these people beating the established teams from London.

He has represented his country at petanque twice; and with others was in at the beginning of the Anglia Region competing in the Inter Regional Competition starting on the Isle of Wight. Since then he has played in the Inter Regional in Poole and Brean Sands. He has represented Norfolk County on numerous occasions even captaining the Norfolk team in 2000 in the 3 way tie against Suffolk and Boulaere.

Nowadays just enjoys the social side of petanque.
